Heartland Natural Greens supports Nutrition, Digestion, Circulation Immunity. It has an Antioxidant power equal to more than 20 servings of organic fruits and vegetables in every scoop! Great Taste - Not Your Typical Thick Greens Drink All Natural - No Preservatives or MSG Over 10,000 ORAC Antioxidant Value per Serving. ORAC Value stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbency Capacity. This is a test tube analysis used to determine the antioxidant power of foods, vitamins, supplements and other chemicals. The importance of ORAC Value in fruits and vegetables: The ORAC Values help in determining which fruit and vegetables have greater antioxidant power and are better at protecting the body from free radical damage to the cells. Free radicals are molecules that harm healthy body cells. Accumulated damage to good cells is the primary cause of the process of aging, disease and other medical complications. Why Heartland Natural Greens? Studies have shown that the combination of nutrients found in whole foods have a more optimal protective effect than each nutrient taken alone. Heartland Natural Greens contains a variety of high ORAC Value whole foods, providing you with optimal levels of antioxidants that would be difficult to get on your own. Heartland Natural Greens has an ORAC Antioxidant Value of over 10,000 per serving. (Latest testing showed ORAC Value at 10,160 per serving.) According to Dr. James Balch, M.D.*, "...Our bodies are exposed constantly to oxidizing damage. It is almost a paradox, we need oxygen, we cannot live without it, yet, at the same time, the end products of the oxidation process that gives us the energy and so on, ...cause oxidizing damage to cells. Such damage makes us age prematurely, causes cancer, hardening of the arteries and more". *Author of the book: The Super Anti-Oxidants: Why They Will Change the Face of Healthcare in the 21st Century.

I decided to interview Yami because we are very good friends and she will always be like an older sister to me..she has alot of talent and drive!! I feel people got to hear more about her, she always stays active and in PuertoRico, she is a big part of the graff movement..! Please stay tuned for more interviews to come soon
WHAT DO YOU WRITE?
YAMI
WHAT GOT YOU TO GROW A LOVE FOR GRAFF?
Ive always liked drawing characters and stuff back in the day. And I even started using paintbrush on my own to take it to the next level. But it wasnt until I met my husbnad Wiked Seus, whom had moved from NJ to Puerto Rico, that I was introduced to the graffiti world. Because where I live, there wasnt any really good graffiti, except for very little tagging and bombing, and they werent even good. It was just vandalism really. So I got inspired to use the spray can, and combine it with my love for drawing characters.
HOW LONG HAVE YOUVE BEEN PAINTING?
For about 3 years.
IM SURE ALL YOUR PAINTINGS ARE YOUR FAVORITES BUT WHICH ONE DO YOU FEEL MORE ACCOMPLISHED WITH..?

To me, everytime I paint, I learn something or do something differently than I normally do. So its really hard to pick a favorite when youre proud of just even trying to create something good. But I guess, if I had to pick, I really loved the aviation girl character that I did about a month ago. Maybe because I was trying to practice a bit more on realism, and I really liked how it came out. So I do feel more accomplished with that, in the sense that Im hoping to take my work to another level of dopenesslol
WHAT CREW DO YOU REP?
- Skunkworks_Militia Crew(before anything else, this is my
original crew, so in the end, this is what I Rep.)
- SilverCaps_Worlwide
- Kweens Destroy

WHOS PART OF YOUR CREW?
Skunkworks_Militia Crew:
_ Wiked Seus
_ Sek oner
_ Dom oner (a.k.a. Fuze)
_ Fom oner
WHATS YOUR THING PIECING OR CHARACTERS?
Characters. Im just drawn to that since I was a kid. It comes natural to me. But I would like to start practicing on piecing too. It just seems sooo hard, lol.
WHAT PAINT DO YOU PREFFER?
I really liked Krylon or Montana(regular, gold, black, whatever), but since here in Puerto Rico krylons are not good anymore, and montanas are too expensive, we have no choice but to use whatever cheap shit we can findbut hey, we gotta do what we gotta do right.
DO YOU SEE YOURSELF REPPIN 5YEARS FROM NOW?
Without a doubt. I cant live without art in my life. Plus, this is a lifestyle and my love for hip hop culture. Shit is real. So whether its spraying in the streets, on a canvas, or in my own house walls, you better believe therell allways be some time of painting going on.

WHAT ARE TWO OF YOUR FAV. CLASSIC HIPHOP JOINTS THAT GET YOU AMPD?
There are too many. But I will say this, I really really loved Big Punisher and Biggie, both R.I.P. And its really hard to pick a song because I loved all of their songs.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT GIRLS WHO FUCK TO GET A PIECE AND THEN FRONT  TO JUST SHOW OFF OR  ACT LIKE THEY DID IT ? (lmao)
Oh my god, this is sooo fucking wrong in so many levels. Seriously, do females do that? So much for female empowerment. But whatever, they only got a picture of it. Nobody saw them painting it. Graffiti is all about street cred. It doesnt matter how many pictures youve got in front of it, the real artist will always shine. Fuck those groupies.lol.

My biggest role model as a child, My mom is by far the strongest woman I know or met in my life and I dont say this because she is my mom but because of her experience in life! When I was born in 1987 she was diagnosed with Systematic Lupus, which growing up as a child it was one of the hardest things to go thru and I never was able to understand why she wasnt full of energy like the other moms, or why she was her normal weight one day of 110pounds and then the next day looked like she was 300pounds! It was always sooo hard to see that and to see how easily she bruised on her legs, or how she lost her hair when I was a teenager and I had to be the one to tell her MOM you have a patch thats missing! Nobody wants to ever have to deal with people staring at a loved one like something is wrong with them and they arent a normal person! Through out all those moments tho my mother still brought me to my pageants on her sickest days, and paid for my modeling expenses, knowing money was tight when I was younger because that was how much she believed in me! She always was either doing crafts or painting or doing hair and makeup on someoneso I guess thats where I got my talents besides my other relatives who are extremely artistic also! My mom never let neither her or me leave the house with out her hair and makeup done and some highheels, being that I was her babygirl she would hook me up too!
She never quit on me and always stuck by my side, even when I turned on her at times, and acted as if I didnt care! Alot of people who know me an remember the ugly person I was in middle school and high school also remember the times I was sitting in the hallways crying about my motherThere was many fuckin times the doc would tell her she might not make it, this and thatIts annoying and overwhelming to even think about as a kid while your at school and trying to enjoy those awesome years in your life!
My mom always guided me in the right direction, I always was the wild-child in my family tho so it just took time to let her guidance sink in! I lived always in the fast lane and my father used to degrade me right in my face so it was always disfunctional in my house!
But I am a mom now and I understand why things are the way they are, and why mothers act the way they do..I am glad mine was super girly and sexxy because it showed me to be that way also loland now my daughter will  have that instilled in her! The only tom-boy trait I have is that I can kick your ass and I that I am into graffiti, but  as far as with the graffiti I dont sit around and YELL HEY THIS IS WUT I DO OR LIKE BECAUSE THAT MAKES U LOOK REALLY BAD IN THE GRAFF SCENE ..especially when you know aloooooooot of heads in the game and your not a half-ass artist! And that is something my mother always supported because her cousin was Macho167 from CIA crew (do your research you will see)she even told me she would get me out if I ever got caught how bad is that!
Anyways I love my mom hella a lot so I decided hey why not give her shine!.

Benefits:
One of 12 Polynesian medicinal plants used by the Hawaiians as an herbal remedy * aids Acid-Alkaline balance * treatment of skin afflictions * aids respiratory conditions * assists indigestion * helps with high blood pressure, arthritis, ulcers, arteriosclerosis, senility, depression, mental clarity, energy levels.
What is Noni and where does it grow?
Noni (scientific name: Morinda citrifolia) is an green plant found in coastal regions as well as in forested areas. The Noni plant has small white flowers that develop into a small bumpy fruit. Upon ripening, the fruit acquires a yellowish color. Noni grows in hot tropical environments. It grows wild in places like Hawaii, Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga, Samoa, the Cook Islands and in some Asian countries as well as Central and South America.
Whats the history of Noni?
Ancestors of the Polynesian peoples of the South Pacific discovered Noni about 5000 years ago. These ancient peoples originated in Southeast Asia and migrated west in oceangoing canoes bearing only their necessities, including certain plants they considered sacred due to their life-sustaining properties. Morinda citrifolia – the Noni plant – was revered as a medicinal agent among folk healers. In addition to its many therapeutic uses, Noni fruit was also a source of nourishment in times of famine.
The native Hawaiian Kahuna healers considered Noni their most sacred herb, used for a variety of medicinal purposes. Noni has been central to Hawaiian culture for centuries.
In Malaysia, Noni is known as and is used for urinary problems, coughs and menstrual pain. In the Caribbean, people know Noni as the Pain Killer Tree.
How does Noni benefit our bodies?
With increased interest in natural remedies and alternatives to pharmaceuticals, Noni has experienced an unprecedented explosion in interest worldwide.

INTRODUCTION:
There is a lot of confusion about what constitutes a quality flake food (or pellet). The aquarist needs to understand that there are similarities and differences between fish and other animals. For example; Fish get most of their energy needs from fat, but in humans carbohydrates are a better source. Another point is amino acids (the building blocks of proteins); almost all animals have different amino acid needs. For example; Cats need Taurine in there diet or they can suffer heart problems.
Then there is the speed of digestion, some fish such as goldfish tend to have slower digestive tracts (I like to compare it to a horse, but there are major differences such as the stomach). But the similarity is that if too high a protein or the wrong protein diet is fed, the horse may colic, and in goldfish they will build up intestinal gas and infections including swim bladder or dropsy will ensue. The wrong amino acids in any fish will lead to aquarium pollution (extra ammonia) and renal failure.
Another note about fish food is what carnivores need. Carnivorous fish often consume whole animals including intestinal contents, which often include plant material. A quality fish food for carnivores must include vegetable matter such as spirulina.
HERE ARE A FEW BUILDING BLOCK INGREDIENTS:
AMINO ACIDS: An amino acid is any molecule that contains both amines (organic compounds that contain nitrogen as the key atom. Structurally amines resemble ammonia) and Carboxylic acids (organic acids characterized by the presence of a carboxyl group). Amino acids are used as the basic components of proteins.
The net protein utilization is profoundly affected by the limiting amino acid content or protein quality (the essential amino acid found in the smallest quantity in the foodstuff), and somewhat affected by salvage of essential amino acids in the body. It is therefore a good idea to mix foodstuffs that have different weaknesses in their essential amino acid distributions. This limits the loss of nitrogen through deamination and increases overall net protein utilization. Eggs (whether fish or even chicken) have the highest protein quality of any source. Which makes hard boiled egg crumbles an excellent food source for fry.
Bottom line; Not all protein sources are equal. An analogy used at a pet food seminar I attended was this: You can achieve the protein analysis on many pet foods with a used pair of leather shoes, but leather shoes contain little usable proteins.
FATS: Molecular compounds that are generally soluble in organic solvents and largely insoluble in water. Fats are important for insulating body organs against shock, maintaining body temperature, and promoting healthy cell function. They also serve as energy stores for the body. Fats are broken down in the body to release glycerol and free fatty acids. The glycerol can be converted to glucose by the liver and thus used as a source of energy. The fatty acids are the main source of energy in fish, especially for many tissues, such as heart and skeletal muscle. Another important function for fats are for vitamin absorption. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble, meaning they can only be digested, absorbed, and transported in conjunction with fats.
CARBOHYDRATES: Molecular substances which include the sugars, starches, gums and celluloses. The common attributes of carbohydrates are that they contain only the elements carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, and that their combustion will yield carbon dioxide plus one or more molecules of Water. Most of the carbohydrates that enter the diet of fish are of plant origin. Carnivorous fish such as groupers, therefore, deal with little carbohydrate. Indeed, experiments have shown that these species are ill-equipped to handle significant quantities of raw carbohydrate, in their diets. The ability of fish to digest carbohydrates depends on their ability to elaborate amylase. All species of fish have been shown to secrete at least some amylase. It has also been demonstrated that activity of this enzyme was greatest in herbivores.
Carbohydrates are not a superior energy source for fish over protein or fat although digestible carbohydrates do spare protein for tissue building. Also, unlike in mammals, glycogen is not a significant storage depot of energy in fish. The more efficient metabolism of amino acids over carbohydrates (glucose) for energy could be due to the ability of fish to excrete nitrogenous waste as ammonia from their gills without the high cost of energy in converting the waste to urea.
FISH FOOD SOURCES:
FISH MEAL: Fish meal has been widely used as a protein source for many years for fish. Two basic types of fish meal are produced; (1) produced from fishery waste (salmon, tuna, etc.) that are associated with the processing of various edible human fishery products and (2) When specific fish (herring, menhaden, pollack, etc.) are harvested just for the purpose to produce fish meal. The fish can be dried directly drying or cooking prior to drying and oil extracted. In addition to being a by-product of human fish production it is also a by-product associated with fish oil production, which is where most commercial fish food obtain fish meal from.
Fish meal can be classified as two basic types; (1) fishery waste associated with the processing of fish for human consumption, again the primary source. (2) Fish that are only used for the production of fish meal. This is the best source, listed on ingredients as ?Whole Fish Meal? or ?White Fish Meal?.
SHRIMP MEAL: Shrimp meal can be made from either cull shrimp that are being processed before freezing or from whole shrimp that is not of suitable quality for human consumption. The material to be made into shrimp meal is dried (sun or using a dryer) and then ground. Shrimp meal has been used in trout and salmon diets as a source of pigments to impart the desirable color in the tissues. Shrimp meal has been found to be an acceptable supplemental protein source for fish, but inferior to whole fish meal.
SQUID MEAL: Squid Meal is made from squid viscera portions from cannery plants including egg and testis. Squid Meal is high digestibility of protein source, which provides a full range of amino acids for fish. It provides various kinds of vitamins and minerals and also 1.0-1.5% of cholesterol that is suitable for fish fry and young fish.

INE SHRIMP: Just over a centimeter in size, the adult brine shrimp (Artemia) is a common food source for fish. They can be purchased at many Pet Store as adults, Freeze dried or even eggs. The eggs look like a powdery brown substance but in reality the substance is thousands of cysts?eggs surrounded by protective cases. When added to water, these cysts will hatch into shrimp nauplii within a few hours.
As a food source brine shrimp are relatively limited (mostly because of their high water content). They are a good source of carotene for color and act as a natural laxative in fish digestive systems. The proteins them do supply are of high quality. Depending on the source they also can supply vegetable matter due to their consumption of algae.
SOYBEAN MEAL: Use of soybean products in the aquaculture industry have become the focus of protein substitution in fish food around the world. The high protein level makes it a key ingredient for aquaculture feeds. Soybean meal is considerably less expensive than traditionally used marine animal meals. The limiting amino acid content of soybean meal is high, but not on the level of Whole fish meal and especially egg.
SPIRULINA: Spirulina is a blue-green plant plankton rich in raw protein and seven major vitamins: A1, B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E. It naturally contains beta-carotene, color enhancing pigments, and whole range of minerals. In addition, it contains all essential fatty acids and eight amino acids required for complete nutrition. Spirulina is different from other algae and is similar to bacteria in many ways, occupying a niche between plants and bacteria. Spirulina is similar to cyanobacteria in structure (spiral shape, unlike true plant plankton), which can be toxic. Spirulina Blue- Green algae are recognized by the body (fish in particular) as a bacterium, causing an increase in antibodies, which in turn increases disease resistance. Spirulina is also high in usable or digestible amino acids. Spirulina is probably one of the best fish food ingredients available, including for carnivores.
WHOLE WHEAT: Carbohydrates as explained earlier are not the best source of energy in fish, but still can be useful, especially when whole wheat is used. One reason is for roughage, especially in goldfish and koi, but also for other fish for the wheat-germ found in whole wheat is a natural source of vitamin E, an important vitamin to promote healthy growth and fish color.
SUMMARY: Compare TetraMin to some of the facts I have explained, then compare foods such as HBH Tropical and Marine Flake ; Spirulina One Flake; Hikari and Sanyu Foods, such as Sanyu Betta Gold. The difference is quite clear for long term growth and health.

Foods high in antioxidants are currently the super foods of choice - the magic foods that will give us health and long life. The best of them are found in the fruits and vegetables. That advice weve been hearing all our lives: eat your vegetables, turns out to be good advice in the end.
What is it about antioxidant foods that is so good for us? These foods contain molecules that, once inside our bodys cells, react with free radicals and remove them. Free radicals are oxygen containing molecules that are highly reactive - that is they will react with many other molecules they come in contact with. When they react with our cells and tissues, they can do grave damage, leading to ill health and disease. Its better if they react with an antioxidant first and get removed from the picture before they can do any damage. This is why its a good idea to eat lots of foods high in antioxidants, so that you always have lots of antioxidants available when theyre needed.
The information were hearing about foods rich in antioxidants is not hype or propaganda thought up by the fruit and vegetable producers; theres good scientific evidence to back it up. It is, however, being misused by many opportunists to sell antioxidant products to consumers. Because antioxidant foods contain many different antioxidants, all of which function in their own way to rid the body of free radicals, the single best approach to getting enough of them is to eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables every day. If you simply cannot tolerate vegetables, there are antioxidant supplements available to the consumer. Choose one from a reputable source and try to find one that is produced from a range of plants and foods high in antioxidants - so you get a range of antioxidant molecules.
Foods rich in antioxidants include, in general, the brightly colored fruits and vegetables: leafy greens like kale and spinach (but not iceberg lettuce), other green vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts, red and yellow vegetables like tomatoes, red bell peppers, carrots and squash, and other things like beet root. Fruits that are good antioxidant foods include, again, the fruits with lots of color: pink grapefruit, berries, oranges, plums, grapes, apricots, peaches. Even the dried forms of these fruits are good sources. Two foods rich in antioxidants that have enjoyed particular attention recently are blueberries and chocolate - they apparently contain levels of antioxidants out of all proportion to the rest.
Super antioxidant foods like blueberries and chocolate come with a caveat however: they tend to relatively high in oxalic acid. Oxalic acid will bind to other valuable nutrients in the food we eat and make them unavailable during digestion. Oxalic acid is also irritating to the intestinal lining and quite toxic if large amounts are consumed. Thus, a steady diet of foods rich in antioxidants and high in oxalic acid can lead to nutritional deficiency and ill health. The key here, as in most things in life, is moderation and variety. You can enjoy average amounts of these and other foods high in antioxidants, but dont overdo it on any one thing.
A healthy balanced diet containing plenty of fruits and vegetables, with as much variety as possible, should provide ample foods rich in antioxidants and all the other nutrients essential to good health. Again, if a healthy diet is not possible for you, consider a nutritional supplement that will provide the same variety and take it as directed.

"Neways Wins Court Victory Enjoining Sisel and Five of its Top Distributors

SALT LAKE CITY Business Wire A federal court in Utah has issued an injunction against Sisel International, LLC and five of Sisel's top distributors in Japan. Among other things, the injunction requires Sisel and these distributors to return all of Neways' distributor information in their possession and prohibits Sisel and its distributors from using such information. In addition, the Court found that Sisel's top three distributors--Koji Yamamoto, Fumiko Matsumoto and Toru Egashira--likely have breached their contracts with Neways by recruiting Neways distributors to join Sisel, and are now prohibited from continuing to recruit Neways distributors for a period of one year from each distributor's date of suspension from Neways.

In its 23-page ruling issued February 11, 2008, the Court ordered Sisel, Mr. Yamamoto, Ms. Matsumoto, Mr. Egashira, Kaoru Kitagawa, and Chiharu Hayashi to thoroughly search for and return all information relating to Neways' distributors and prohibited them from using such information in the future.

The victory was a significant one for Neways, and came after a two-week evidentiary hearing in federal court. Neways alleged that Sisel and its Japanese distributors were misappropriating Neways' confidential and trade secret information regarding Neways' distributor network, and that the Japanese distributors were breaching their contracts with Neways by soliciting Neways distributors to join Sisel. After hearing all of the evidence, including testimony by the Japanese distributors themselves, the Court found that Neways was likely to prevail on these claims and that the defendants should be enjoined.

This is the third time in less than a year that Neways has prevailed against Sisel or one of Sisel's distributors. In May 2007, the same federal court ordered Sisel, its owner Thomas Mower, Sr., and several of its employees to return all copies of Neways' product formulas, vendor lists, and distributor lists, and prohibited them from continuing to use that information. Two months later, a Utah state court entered an order against Sisel distributors Jef and Patricia Welch restraining them from recruiting any present Neways distributor to participate in another multi-level marketing company. As a result of the federal court's recent ruling, a similar restraint is now in place against Mr. Yamomoto, Ms. Matsumoto, and Mr. Egashira.

"Neways is extremely pleased with the Court's ruling," said Eric Larsen, Neways' C.E.O. "In enjoining Sisel and its top Japanese distributors, the Court has affirmed what Neways has always believed--that companies are free to compete in this market, but they must do so fairly and honestly. We hope that is what we will see in the future."

Chris Crump, Neways' General Counsel, said a significant part of the case against Sisel has been about protecting Neways' distributors and confidential distributor information. "Two courts have now recognized the importance of those protections," said Crump, "and Neways will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure that our distributors' businesses are protected."

The case will now proceed on Neways' other claims against Sisel, Mr. Mower, and the other defendants. These claims include allegations that Mr. Mower breached his fiduciary duties to Neways, that Sisel's products are the result of unlawful theft by Sisel of Neways' trade secrets, and that Mr. Mower and a number of other Sisel employees have intentionally destroyed evidence to prevent it from being discovered in the case.

The case is entitled Neways Inc. v. Thomas E. Mower, Sr., et al., No. 2:07-CV-339.

Vanessa Quillao enjoys her winning moment.
As I walked around the park yesterday I noticed a lot guests sporting Vote for Me lanyards. All of them were excited and asking others to vote for them at their show. The ones I talked too had all specifically come to the park to audition for The American Idol Experience. A couple even went as far as bringing a change of clothes for when they were on stage or wearing specific outfits just for the day.
But clearly not everyone in the Finale Show was at the park for the express purpose of winning that Dream Ticket. The final six (it was supposed to be seven one bowed out at the last minute) were all women. One visiting Walt Disney World with her high school senior class, three who were just here on vacation, and two who came expressly to audition. Three of the people I talked to who came just to audition, didnt even make it out of their preliminary shows.
The competition was tough, both at the preliminary show I attended and at the finale. It came down to three competitors; any of which deserved a chance at the front of the line fast pass for the real TV show that is the Dream Ticket. I hope the runners up all work on their performances and come back again for another chance at the American Idol Experience.

According to Wikipedia, stress refers to the consequence of the failure of a human body to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats to the organism, whether it can be actual or imagined. Anyone who has been through a rough and stressful path (who hasnt?) can say that Wikipedia hit the definition point blank.
It includes a state of alarm and adrenaline production, short-term resistance as a coping mechanism, and exhaustion. The most common stress symptoms include irritability, muscular tension, inability to concentrate, and a variety of physical reactions such as headaches and an accelerated heart rate.
So, now that we have define what stress is all about, who among you wants stress in their life; raise their hands.
Just as I expected silence; and no movement. Of course no one want stress in their life. We all want to be relaxed and calm in our daily interactions. But we also know that such level is hard to attain.
Yet there are certain foods that can help us deal with stress in our daily lives. One of this the superfood from Elements of Life, ReVitaphi.
ReVitaphi is a concoction of organic superfoods that is made to help our bodies increase their cellular rejuvination capacity, promote stable and healthy bloodflow and brain function, and to improve our bodies resistance against physical, mental, and emotional stress.
The formula is composed of alkaline greens combined with Moringa Olifera, one of the most single potent superfood plants from Africa. The plant, which already holds health potency, and then combined with alkaline greens results in a superfood that is unlike any other. It is no wonder why ReVitaphi is gaining attention from serious health and performance enthusiasts worldwide.
Other than alkaline greens and Moringa Olifera, ReVitaphi also has Indian Tusi, Ashawaganda, Gotu Kola, Ginko Biloba and Hoshu added to the mix. Other than combating against mental, emotional, and physical stress, ReVitaphi can also increase rejuvenation capacity and increase oxygenation of the blood and brain.
So again, who wants to have stress in their life show your hand. And now, anyone for some ReVitaphi to get rid of stress, raise your hand. Now thats more like it.

But exercise has also always been an easy route for meditation allowing my mind to slip happily into the quiet that breathlessness brings. Since the streets of Port-au-Prince are not welcoming playgrounds for a long, unwinding run to process the intensity of the days, Ive had to come up with other alternatives. The aerobic tapes haven't been cutting it. I end up wanting to throw things at the puffed up guy in spandex coaching me to contort myself a little further, or squeeze out one more push-up. So over the last few days, Ive pulled out a jump rope we happened to pack, and headed up on the roof. I certainly get breathless fast! Long gone are the days of Jump Rope For Heart and the endless energy of youth. However despite the burning in my lungs and the insta-cramp in my calves, I have started to experience that exercise-induced calm once again. Thoughts dissolve into the rhythm of breathing, my mind clears. Tonight I jumped under stars in the velvety night air. The day had had its ups and downs, but the sound of my heart pounding in my ears brought me back to center. I am spoiled that I can have a cool-down night swim afterwards; treading in the inky black water under the dark sky, letting the tension in my muscles relax in the buoyancy of the water. I found my release.

This morning we met our Creole tutor, a man referred by Patrick Villier. Speaking with an American accent, he shared his story of a youth largely spent in America raised by his Haitian father, deported in his early twenties from being in the wrong place at the wrong time (i.e. x-con), and now raising a family of two in Haiti for the last 10 years working as an English and Creole teacher. We liked him instantly, and after an hour working with him, felt a new shining hope that we may actually have a fighting chance at learning the language well.

At school, we met Pastor Milfort, the President of the Central organization of Haitian Protestant Churches newly formed. He was a lovely man, and described his own organization very similarly to the goals and philosophy of CONASPEH. He seemed interested in Patrick teaching in his own seminary once in a while. We look forward to getting to know him over the next 4 years, and learning even more about how, together, we can accomplish bigger things for the Haitian people using a unified approach.

At the end of the day, we took a teacher in the school home because he wasnt feeling well. The house he lives in with his family is one of the 16 small, cider-block homes that were built by CONASPEH. I remember visiting them before, on our first interview trip to Haiti, and struggling with the simplicity, with the lack of the key elements of a house Ive never lived without: a kitchen, a bathroom, electricity or running water. The cooking is done outside as is the washing and bathing. The houses are built close together, so being a neighbor means bumping into each all the day, sharing the intimacies of life. Today, though, I was interested in a subtle change in my perspective since my first visit. Today I saw a simple but beautiful little community with hope.

The young teacher invited us in to meet his mother and his brothers who are students at the CONASPEH school. When we arrived, his mother had been washing the familys laundry by hand in a large washbowl outside her front door. Drying her hands on her apron, she quickly rose to greet us and to welcome us into her two-bedroom home. One room had a double bed mattress on one side, and twin bunk beds on the other with just enough space in-between to stand. The other room had another twin bed and a table wedged between the bed and the wall. A shelf held cups, plates and pictures of family. The house was tidy, small, and spoke of many lives that slept in its shelter.

Most of the domestic activity happened outside the walls of the house as was clear by the congregation of women and children in the tiny walkways separating the stone buildings. Other women were doing washing, some were stoking the charcoal fires for dinner, and children were running about in the dirt. Despite the simplicity of it all, it felt warm and welcoming. All the women there greeted us, and the children came to stare in curiosity. Where as my initial reaction months ago was shock at the inadequacy of the place by American standards, today I saw it as a community of sturdy shelters, simple but well-built homes that housed so much life within. Compared to the masses living in Port au Prince, these tiny houses were suburban dream homes: sturdy, clean, community-organized and safe. Neighbors were living together, working together, sharing the load and their lives. Patrick and I felt honored to stand in their midst, to be invited in with hospitality and pride.

My shock of the day came when the mother of the house showed me a piece of paper with my signature on it. It was an order for labs I had written for one of her sons; by the list of orders I had written, I had been worried about significant disease. She explained to me apologetically that she had gone with her son to the lab, but they hadnt understood my orders, didnt comprehend the language I had used. I stood in her tiny living room and felt anger and frustration collapse around my shoulders, my worst fears seemingly coming true as I stared at the unfilled request. I had previously reassured myself that at LEAST I had offered recommendations for a next step; but the truth was not only could I not council those recommendations to my patients, but my own Haitian medical colleagues couldn't understand me either. I had asked, on day one, whether my English orders would be understood, and 2 nurses and a Haitian doctor said, "pa gen pwoblem." (there is no problem) But the realization hit hard that they must have been mistaken, that there was a BIG problem, that the hundreds of people for which I had recommended labs, x-rays, work-ups or referrals were stuck with a piece of paper no one here can interpret. I stood horrified that this women likely represented so many more in her same circumstance and all were too busy? too scared? too apathetic? too sick? too distrustuful? to come back to the clinic and tell me sooner. The mystery of why not a single lab result has fallen into my hands became all the more clear.

Back to square one. And I just pray its not square negative one since I'm sure the patients I have seen think I'm no good if I can't even communicate what I need them to do. So its just more fuel to the fire that I need more orientation and a medical translator, more validation to the concerns I raised last week. Of course I've put my proposals and concerns on the table, and they were approved, but everything moves at a different pace here. If I don't learn to relax, I may in fact go insane.

Many people have some issues with getting a nude massage at a spa. Spa etiquette varies by spa, location, and even country, and while a nude massage is a normal, everyday occurrence in some places, it may not be in others. Being naked to get a rubdown is normal, but not required.

Although many people dont feel comfortable being naked in front of a stranger, for the most part a massage or body treatment is done in the nude. Modesty should always be respected, however. Spas especially in North America may recommend that the client is nude for the massage, and even then, spas in North America use draping techniques to cover a person during a massage so they arent really totally uncovered anyway. In contrast, spas in Europe are more relaxed with being naked, and draping techniques are usually more lax there.

A Swedish massage usually has the client being nude. Usually the client will walk into a very private room with dim lighting, take his or her robe off, and will get on the massage table in between the sheets, all without the massage therapist being in the room. The therapist should always knock before entering the room as well. If at any time the therapist is in the room when you are taking off your robe, you can always ask them to step out while you get comfy on the table.

The technique that is used in spas in North America is called draping, and with it only one part of the body is exposed at one time, and that is the body part that is being massaged. If she is working on your leg, only that leg should be exposed. Your private area should never be exposed. Although womens breasts are never exposed or massaged, the buttocks sometimes are, so dont panic if you feel some hands on your cheeks! The buttocks can be massaged through the sheet if you prefer, just let your therapist know this.

It is important to remember during a nude massage that it is you who is in control, and you do not have to be completely naked in order to get a massage. You can wear underwear if you want to. The comfort of the client is the main factor in any massage; if the client cannot relax, there really is no point to the massage. There are many styles of massage that do not require any nudity, so if you are just not comfortable with getting a nude massage, ask about options for a Thai massage or some reflexology work done instead.
