I am starting this blog as an outlet for me and anyone else who needs an outlet or forum like this. I have been meaning to do it for the past two months, I have started writing over and over, but finally Mother's day came and went and I knew it was the right time.

This is a blog about struggling with fertility issues. My husband and I have been trying for 20 months (which to some probably isn't that long). I have had two "failed pregnancies," that is what I call them. I was pregnant for less then 3 weeks both times. Just long enough to know, then it was gone. We haven't been to see any specialists yet, mostly because of insurance and money, but I have done everything I can do on my own to get pregnant and/or figure out what is wrong. Anyway, so that is where I am at right now. If you're there too, I am very sorry. It is a hard place to be.

Right now I am standing at the beginning of a path that is unknown to me. All my life I always figured that my life path would follow a very predictable pattern. I have watched friends, sisters, and even people I don't know follow this path. It is the one my religion teaches, and it is the one I have always aspired to. It is the one you sing about in elementary school:

"Joe and Jane sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage."

Nobody ever sings "then comes shots, examinations, sperm count tests, clomid, IVF, miscarriage, IVF again, then maybe a baby." That doesn't really fit into elementary school rhymes. And I am glad that most people don't have to take this path. I don't wish infertility on anyone, and I don't begrudge other women their paths (well most of the time). My problem is that I don't know how to walk this path.

This blog is going to be my journey. I hope to be candidly honest about the ups and downs, the struggles and failures, and hopefully, eventually, the wished for outcome. Maybe it'll end up being just for me, I don't know. But I know I need an outlet for all the complaints, tears, successes, and dreams. I also hope that I can share information. That is one of the most daunting things to me, understanding all the information. What am I supposeed to do next? What test/drug/doctor is right for me? What about other methods of becoming a parent? I hope that I will find answers to a lot of questions as I go. That in the end is why I'm writing this blog: to chart the unknown path.
