ECB are as good as cash at CVS so guard them with your life! :)  ECB can be used on almost everything CVS has to offer excluding certain items such as prescriptions, gift cards, tobacco, and alcohol.  ECB expire four weeks from the date they were printed.  The expiration date will be printed on each ECB.  And if for some reason the ECB you have earned do not print, tell the cashier - ECB can be printed manually.
ECB and CRT coupons are card-specific meaning they can only be used by the ExtraCare card that received them.  For example, if you try to use a $3 off $15 coupon that was not assigned directly to your ExtraCare card, the cash register will stating the coupon is not registered to your ExtraCare card.  See my post with more on this topic.
You dont keep the change.  If your purchase totals $9.75 and you want to pay with $10 ECB, you will lose $0.25 ECB.  The additional amount cannot be refunded to you in any way.  Also, if youre using, for example, a $3 off $15 purchase coupon on your shopping trip, make sure your pre-tax amount is above $15 (ask the cashier), otherwise you wont be able to use the coupon.
If you have manufacturers coupons, you dont have to spend more money to satisfy the promotion dollar amount.  For example, lets say I have to buy $10 worth of Dove products to get $5 ECB.  I will buy two shampoos and two conditioners at $2.50 each bringing my total purchase of Dove products to $10.  I also have four manufacturers coupons for $1.00 off Dove hair care but since ECB promotions are calculated by the shelf price and not purchase price after coupons, I have satisfied the ECB promotion requirements and will receive $5 ECB.
You dont have to do it all in one trip either.  Take your time - you have all week, possibly even all month, to satisfy an ECB promotion.  You can make multiple trips and can even go to different CVS stores.  Everything is tied to your personal ExtraCare card.
